Getting Help

Start with an assessment of your situation, what strengths do you have, what will the problems be? If you are in an emergency, the hospital emergency room will be the choice. If it is a more longstanding problem, consider your local hospitals, clinics, therapists and psychiatrists. Call friends and ask them if they recommend someone. Ask at universities, colleges or school guidance counselors. Check insurance rosters, yellow pages and referral programs through your employer. Treatment for eating disorders can be costly, because of the need for fairly long treatment, so try to work within your insurance plan if possible.
