Why "dieting" doesn't work

Weight Management
Initial session: Before the initial nutritional assessment it is recommended that the individual get a complete physical from his or her personal physician and that any pertinent information be forwarded directly to Nutritionconsulting.com via mail for evaluation. The assessment will include a complete phone interview and a self assessment questionnaire. The phone interview will include: the history of the weight problems, a comprehensive food frequency or diet recall, medical history, and weight history.

Follow up sessions: During the second session, the results, conclusions and recommendations will be discussed and a plan will be developed. Subsequent sessions are planned for each individual to meet specific goals and objectives. Clients are frequently asked to keep records, email the dietitian to with questions or to notify the dietitian about goal completion, and to do activities designed to assist them in acheiving the goals.

Goals: The goal of nutrition intervention is to assist in weight loss, encourage nutritious intake, to encourage an activity level to maximize health (as allowed by physician), to encourage the individual to respond accurately to their level of hunger, to stop eating when they are satisfied and facilitate improvement in individuals sense of well being through adequate nutrition.

Requirements: In order to participate in treatment, the client may be asked to sign a consent for the dietitian to discuss their care with their psychotherapist, and/or physician as needed. Patients may be asked to have ongoing medical evaluation for specific monitoring of medical issues.

If a client does not appear to be a good candidate for outpatient nutritional counseling, they will be referred back to their primary healthcare professional or mental health practitioner or another healthcare professional. Every effort is made to coordinate care with existing healthcare and mental health professionals to maintain quality of care.
